Glaucoma drops aim to reduce pressure

Regular and correct use of glaucoma eye drop treatments may lower pressure inside the eye.

Maintaining healthy eye pressure is key.

How to instill glaucoma eye drops

Get into a routine of using your eye drops at a certain time every day to help you remember.

Get comfortable before starting

Ideally lie down to ensure your drops go into your eyes.

You might need to keep still for 10-15 minutes if you have several different drops to insert.

Inserting the drops

Gently pull down your lower eye lid.

Squeeze a drop into the pocket of your lower lid – don’t let the bottle touch your eye.

Close your eye gently.

If you have to put a different type of eye drop medicine in the same eye, wait at least 5 minutes between medicines.

Follow all directions given to you by your doctor carefully. The directions may differ from the information contained in the leaflet.

If you think you may have experienced a side effect, consult the patient information leaflet that came with the medicine and contact your GP or eye specialist.

Make a commitment to use your eye drops regularly and correctly to help protect your vision, so you can carry on doing the things you love.
